Babs graduated from the University of Waterloo with an honours
Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology (1989). Since that time he has worked in the field of Pedorthics, earning accreditation as both a Certified Pedorthic Technician (2000) and a Canadian Certified Pedorthist (2007). He is a member of both the College of Pedorthics of Canada and the Pedorthic Association of Canada.
With special interests in lower limb biomechanics, orthotic therapy, running injuries, and shoe technology, Babs has presented seminars to a variety of health care, athletic, and community groups in Toronto and South Australia. He is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Toronto School of Physical Therapy and with many local running groups in the Toronto area.
Babs enjoys hockey and is Assistant Coach of a team in the Greater Toronto Hockey League. He has been able to incorporate his expertise in biomechanics with his love of hockey, providing video analysis of skating and other basic skills.
